How to Create Your Galactic Look

Getting that amazing cat eye effect is simpler than you think. Use a base and top coat for the best and most lasting results. Here’s how to do it:

Prepare Your Nails

Begin by prepping your nail plate. This is a standard first step for any great manicure. Use our F.O.X Nail Prep to degrease and dehydrate your nail plate. Next, apply a layer of F.O.X Ultrabond, our acid-free primer for long-lasting adhesion.

Apply the Base Coat  

Apply a transparent F.O.X base coat. Once it's on, cure it using a UV lamp. Next, apply a thin layer of your chosen Cat Eye or Galaxy Cat Eye hybrid polish color. We recommend the F.O.X. brand, of course, but there are some other popular brands to choose from, as well!

Now for the fun part: grab our magnet and create your design. Once you're happy, cure it under a UV 36W lamp for 2 minutes, or under an LED/UV 36/48W lamp for 60 seconds.

Apply the Second Layer (Optional, for More Intensity) 

If you want an even more striking effect, apply a second thin layer of Cat Eye nail polish. Again, use your magnet to design it, then cure it in a UV 36W lamp for 2 minutes, or an LED/UV 36/48W lamp for 60 seconds.

Apply the Top Coat 

Cover the entire nail surface with your favorite F.O.X Top coat and cure under the lamp. This seals the gel and gives you a perfect finish. As a final touch for a truly polished look, apply our Dry Cuticle Oil Oasis. 

Removal

When you want to change your polish, remove your Cat Eye Galaxy nails with our F.O.X Gel Remover or by using a nail drill machine or nail file.

How Do Cat Eye and Galaxy Cat Eye Polishes Create the Magnetic Effect?

Our Cat Eye polishes contain small metallic particles that are sensitive magnets. When you put the wet polish near a magnet, these particles move, creating the characteristic "cat eye" design.

Do I Need to Use a Dark Undercoat for the Best Cat Eye Galaxy Effect?

No. While a dark base will increase the "galaxy" effect more dramatically, you can also wear Cat Eye Galaxy polishes alone, or over any color from the SPECTRUM collection.

How Long Does the F.O.X Cat Eye Manicure Last?

Your F.O.X Cat Eye manicure will last if you use a F.O.X base and top coat, just like other premium hybrid polishes. Other brands may have varying lasting times.

Is Cat Eye Galaxy Difficult to Remove Like Regular Gel Polish?

No! Remove Cat Eye Galaxy polishes the same way as all other hybrid polishes: either soak off with a F.O.X Gel Remover or file or drill off the product. The metallic particles don't make removal more difficult.
